Our Story

Our company was established in 2014 with the goal of improving virtual healthcare. Since then, our vision has evolved to address the complicated, inefficient communication between healthcare providers and participants today. In early 2015 we launched the Zillion technology platform to simplify the way they connect, enabling faster, cost-effective engagements.

James R. Boyle
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Boyle, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer at Zillion, has more than 30 years of business experience. He was the president and chief executive officer of John Hancock until 2012. Mr. Boyle’s experience at John Hancock and its predecessor companies includes two decades of ever-increasing responsibilities in finance, operations, technology, customer service, investments, product development, distribution and marketing. He has held leadership roles in businesses including mutual funds, retirement plans, annuities, life and long-term care insurance and registered broker dealers. Mr. Boyle began his career as a CPA with Coopers & Lybrand. He currently is an advisory board member at HLM Venture Partners and sits on a variety of not-for-profit boards of directors.

Bill Van Wyck
President & Chief Innovation Officer

Mr. Van Wyck has spent over 20 years in e-commerce and the application of cloud technology to vertical markets. As a serial entrepreneur, he has built a successful track record in business development, corporate sales and conversion marketing in the Internet sector. In 1990, Mr. Van Wyck founded CSI, his first technology company, and generated $13MM in annual revenue within four years. He then merged CSI with Elcom International in 1994 and over the next two years drove same-region sales to $110MM from $13MM. After Elcom went public in 1995, Mr. Van Wyck took a multiyear sailing sabbatical and circumnavigated the globe. After returning to the U.S., Mr. Van Wyck founded RedRoller, a cloud-based shipping platform that provided price transparency and transaction processing for its many small business customers. In 2007, RedRoller went public and completed a successful multimillion dollar PIPE transaction. Mr. Van Wyck has been featured in several publications including Entrepreneur, Inc., Fortune, Forbes, Businessweek, the Wall Street Journal and Business 2.0.

Andy Brooks
Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Brooks has more than 19 years of experience in high-tech business operations and investment, spanning the life cycle of private and public companies. His past experience includes positions with Crescendo Ventures, JP Morgan Securities, Bloomberg LP and start-ups in the e-commerce, communications and healthcare sectors where he focused on business model optimization, business development, financing strategy, venture equity and debt placements, initial and secondary public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Brooks served as the principal financial officer in the public offering and PIPE placement of RedRoller, a cloud-based shipping e-commerce platform, and most recently worked as a consultant in the healthcare technology sector, advising academic hospitals and medical device vendors on technology commercialization.

Brent Wilkinson
Chief Operating Officer

Brent Wilkinson, the Chief Operating Officer at Zillion, has over 30 years of leadership experience growing and transforming organizations. He has achieved success from a variety of executive leadership positions including as CEO of Nexus Technology Group and Vice President of Strategic Business Development at Precise Software. Throughout his career, Brent has architected several sustainable business solutions that delivered measurable customer value through an innovative blend of leading-edge technology delivery and simply effective business processes. Specific to health care, he has led award-winning implementations of strategic initiatives with client partners such as Cigna and NovaCare. Brent graduated cum laude from Harvard College with an AB in Economics and earned his Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Cheryl Morrison Deutsch
Chief Experience Officer

Ms. Morrison Deutsch brings to Zillion almost three decades of experience in translating business and technology requirements into actionable plans to provide superior user experiences. She most recently served as Executive Director of Customer Experience, Collaboration & Transformation at Kronos. Prior to this, she was a thought leader at Cloud Technology Partners, a premier cloud services and software company serving fortune 500 companies, developing both technical and organizational strategies to support customers’ business transformations. Ms. Morrison Deutsch also served as Chief Application Officer at Health Dialog, a healthcare coaching solutions provider, where she oversaw the design, development and implementation of HDC3, a proprietary coaching application developed to convert predictive analytics into easily digestible contextual patient information.

Demos Kouvaris
Board Member

Mr. Kouvaris has been Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Chestnut Hill Ventures LLC since March 2002. Prior to Chestnut Hill Ventures, he was the Vice President of Finance for GCC Investments, LLC, a subsidiary of GC Companies, Inc. Before joining GC Companies, Mr. Kouvaris was a senior manager and Certified Public Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand LLP (predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Boston. He currently serves and has served as a director of Millwall Football and Athletic Club plc, Affinity Solutions, Inc., FleetCor Technologies, Inc., ACA Capital Holdings, Inc., and Vanguard Modular Building Systems, LLC, among others. Mr. Kouvaris holds a B.S. in Accountancy from Boston College.

Paul Karger
Board Member

Mr. Karger is the cofounder and managing partner of TwinFocus Capital, a Boston-based investment advisor that manages $4 billion. He leads the firm’s direct investing efforts in private equity and venture capital. Before founding TwinFocus in 2006, Mr. Karger was a Vice President and director of The Karger Group at UBS Financial Services. He currently serves as a director of Glory Sports International, CellInfo, Fundraise.com and Promontory Point Resources. He is also the cofounder and board president of Bridge Boston Charter School. Mr. Karger holds a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Scott Pearson
Board Member

With 20 years of experience leading a wide range of technology-based companies and organizations, Mr. Pearson joined Aquion in March of 2011 as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Pearson’s professional experience spans a broad range of industries including uninterruptible power systems (UPS), fuel cell power systems, personal electric vehicles, electronics assembly equipment and materials, digital imaging and defense systems. Prior to joining Aquion, Mr. Pearson served as President and CEO of Protonex Technology Corporation for six years and remains its Chairman of the Board. Mr. Pearson has also served on the Board of the New England Clean Energy Council since its inception. Mr. Pearson holds an M.B.A. from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.

Vin Fabiani
Board Member

Vin is a partner at HLM Venture Partners and leads the firm’s health care technology accelerator and start-up efforts, holds several portfolio company board seats and observer roles, oversees investor relations and communications, administrative functions as well is active in various aspects of new investment due diligence. Vin is a board member of HLM portfolio companies ClearDATA and Prism Education and is an observer at ArroHealth, Binary Fountain and Persivia. Vin has been a mentor to various start-up companies through several health care accelerator programs, including, among others AidIn, Credsimple, Luminate Health, WellTrackOne and MediQuire. Vin is also on the board of Zillion. Prior to joining HLM, Vin held several senior financial executive positions in the financial services industry including Vice President-General Manager at First Data Investors Services where he was responsible for managing a $35M division providing outsourced accounting and administrative services to mutual fund and brokerage companies and developing offshore administration and global custody businesses to support clients’ international growth. Vin is a former Director of the Private Equity CFO Association as well as several non-profit board roles.

Ms. Ketan is a key technology advisor for Zillion. Ms. Ketan served as Zillion’s Chief Technology Officer for 5 years and brings with her more than 20 years of experience in large-scale enterprise architecture, engineering, strategy, and development. Before joining Zillion, Ms. Ketan was Vice President of Technology at Northrup Grumman, where she worked with the U.S. Department of Defense and Google. Prior to that, she was the Senior Director overseeing e-commerce technology and architecture at Pitney Bowes. In this position, she built and led the team that managed the conception, architecting, development and deployment of Pitney Bowes’s international shipping engine (technology system), which has generated billions of dollars in revenue to eBay, PayPal, Google and Pitney Bowes. Ms. Ketan specializes in the design, development and deployment of mission-critical cloud/web-based systems.

Chris DeLorey

Mr. DeLorey is a Senior Vice President at Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC in Boston. Previously, Mr. DeLorey worked as an independent insurance broker and President of Financial Services at Telamon Insurance and Financial Network in Newton. He has been actively involved in healthcare reform here in the Commonwealth and nationally. He was an original member of the Governor’s Quality and Cost Council, an integral part of the landmark healthcare reform legislation in Massachusetts. He is also a past President of the Massachusetts Association of Health Underwriters. In addition to Excel, Mr. DeLorey serves on the board of the Mass. Corey M McCann, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. McCann is the President and CEO of Pear Therapeutics, a company developing prescription digital therapeutics and drug/software combinations for treatment of severe medical conditions. Previously, he was an investor with MPM Capital, where he evaluated new healthcare investment opportunities and oversaw strategy and execution at portfolio companies. Prior to MPM, he was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company, where he advised healthcare companies on the acquisition, development, and commercialization of life science technologies. Corey has previous investment experience with RiverVest Venture Partners and NeuroInsights where he performed diligence on early stage investments. Corey is also a co-founder, advisor, or Board Director at AgNovos Healthcare, Alcyone Lifesciences, Companion PBx, Dragonfly Sciences, Edumedics, Eternia Group, New Frontier Bio, Rapid Pharmaceuticals AG, Resolute Bio, and Selexys Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. McCann received his M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. He graduated summa cum laude from The Pennsylvania State University where he was an Evan Pugh Scholar, receiving a B.S. in Biology with minors in neuroscience, biochemistry, and molecular biology.

Howard Steinberg

Mr. Steinberg is sole Founder of Source Marketing, established in 1989 and grew to be a leader in the promotional marketing industry and regularly ranked among the country’s top 50 by Advertising Age. In 1998, Steinberg sold a majority interest in Source to MDC Partners, remaining with the company as its CEO until he launched dLife in 2005 to engage the burgeoning diabetes population in better 24/7 self-care through a multi-media DTC platform including TV show, web, mobile and other outlets. dLife rapidly became the leading source and trusted brand for millions with evidence-proven health outcomes. Steinberg left dLife in 2012 and it was subsequently sold by it’s investors in 2013. Mr. Steinberg remains active as an investor and advisor to multiple companies as CEO of Westport Innovation HUB, which he found in 2013.

John Brooks

Mr. Brooks III is the managing director of Healthcare Capital, LLC. Healthcare Capital provides consulting and advisory services to companies looking to advance disruptive solutions, especially in diabetes.

Mr. Brooks is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Joslin Diabetes Center, a Boston based diabetes research, clinical care, and education organization. Mr. Brooks is a well-known life sciences executive. He has co-founded seven life sciences companies, including Insulet (PODD), a disruptive insulin delivery company. He was a co-founder of Prism Venture Partners, a $1.25B venture capital firm. Previously, Mr. Brooks was the Emerging Business Group General Manager at Pfizer/Valleylab, where he was responsible for Pfizer’s Hospital Products Group’s minimally invasive surgery and new medical technologies businesses. As President/General Manager at Pfizer/Strato, he led the growth of a rapidly evolving vascular access medical device business.

Reza Yavari, M.D.

Dr. Yavari is a Board Certified Endocrinologist trained at the YaleSchool of Medicine. Dr. Yavari has advanced degrees from UC Berkeley, University of Paris Medical School VII, Sorbonne University, UCONN Health Center and the Yale School of Medicine. At Yale, Dr. Yavari pursued his specialty training in Endocrinology and as a Howard Hughes Fellow inGenetics. Since 2000, he has been a leader in the field of lifestyle management and wellness as the founder of Beyond Care®, a pioneering preventive care and Yale-affiliated obesity center in Madison, CT. Dr. Yavari continues to teach Yale medical students and serves as a Preceptor for Residents of the Internal Medicine Residency Program of Bridgeport Hospital. During the last two decades, Dr. Yavari has offered his clinical know-how in the setting of destination resorts, Concierge Medicine offices, blue collar factories and group practices. In all of these various settings, Dr. Yavari has offered an expert line of preventive medicine and lifestyle change services for all types of health consumers.

Dr. Yavari speaks regularly on national and local radio and television stations. He also lectures frequently to general audiences and to healthcare professionals on various topics related to metabolism, diabetes and general health-related matters. Dr. Yavari’s efforts and his book titled It Must Be My Metabolism (McGraw-Hill, 2006) have been featured in the New York Times, the Yoga Journal, Shape Magazine, NPR, CNN News Live, More magazine, among other national press and media.
